LEARNING TO LOVE MATH

I am always on the look for good FREE math-learning sites. Here are the best ones that I know of at this point! This page highlights a mix of games and activities that can help you learn many different kinds of math.

Note that some of the sites require the Adobe Flash or Java plugins in order to run. Also, please let me know if you notice that any of these sites have stopped working.

LEARN TO READ AN ANALOG CLOCK

The program doesn't look fancy but it works well!


CREATE A GRAPH

This excellent site allows you to create several different types of graphs.

CUISENAIRE RODS

Cuisenaire Rods are my favorite math manipulative. They are incredibly flexible!

MEASURING ANGLES

The Online Protractor helps you to learn all about angles!


WHAT COULD IT BE???

The Function Machine is a flexible tool that makes you think about the math you know!

PROBLEM SOLVING

The Mental Math Machine asks you to solve 10 word problems — with different numbers every time!

MULTIPLICATION

Table Trees is a game for practising the times tables! It's a little like flashcards but more fun!


ADDITION

Addition Pyramid is a game for practising adding! You get more points for trying harder questions!

CLASSIFY KINDS OF ANGLES

This activity requires some reading but you can learn a lot from it!

CALCULATION SKILLS

The Free Teacher site includes practice activities for many different kinds of math.


A HUGE COLLECTION

The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives has about 100 different Math activities, sorted by grade and type.

LEARN TO ESTIMATE

This tool helps you to develop estimation skills for number, size and length.


AREA AND PERIMETER

Study the relationship between these two important ideas.


COLOR THE MULTIPLES

Practice finding the multiples of a set number in Pascal's Triangle.

IDENTIFY THE FRACTION

Practice naming the fraction that's shown in the picture!
