Thank you, Mr. Schoeber, for all of the great support I got from you over the past four years. I can't express how much I appreciate what you did for me.

This page introduces you to some of the people who make THRIVE happen. It's currently being updated and expanded. Check back again soon for more!

Tyson Schoeber has been teaching THRIVE for the past 18 years but he's been working with children since he was a kid himself. Prior to THRIVE, he worked at the Fraserview Learning Center, a great VSB program lost to budget cuts many years ago, as well as two other VSB schools. Other formative experience includes a summer living on the edge of a slum in Nairobi; several years of volunteer, church-based, street outreach work; and his training in the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy instruction.

Having recently celebrated their 20th anniversary, Jean and Tyson enjoy spending time with their teenage sons: 17-year-old Jacob and 15-year-old Isaac. The Schoeber boys are steadily working their way through all of the Star Trek episodes ever aired. Tyson is passionate about environmental issues and social justice and he has walked to and from work most every day throughout his working life. He's also been a fan of U2 for more than 30 years.

Tyson was presented with the Outstanding Educator of the Year award by the Learning Disabilities Division of the Council for Exceptional Children at a conference in Baltimore, Maryland in April 2010.
